How Your Rating Is Calculated

A cent is one hundredth of a semitone. Accuracy is measured against your own tuning, so singing a whole song slightly flat but in tune with yourself isn’t penalised. This page and the AI voice analysis use exactly the same rating, so your score is the same on both.
What Your Score Means
- 8.5–10, Excellent: notes land close to pitch and held notes stay steady.
- 7–8.4, Strong: mostly accurate, with a few notes drifting.
- 5.5–6.9, Good: some notes are noticeably sharp or flat.
- 4–5.4, Developing: many notes miss the pitch. Slow practice with a reference note helps most.
- Under 4, Needs work: this can also mean the recording was noisy, too quiet, or mostly speech.
Your strongest area and the one to work on first appear under the score. Use that tip to decide what to practise before your next try.
What the Rating Doesn’t Judge
A computer can reliably measure pitch, steadiness and range. It can’t fairly judge tone colour, style, emotion or whether a voice sounds “good”. Those are matters of taste. That’s why the tool doesn’t rate attractiveness or give a vague “talent” score. Treat your rating as feedback on pitch control, one of the most important and most trainable parts of singing.
How to Improve Your Rating
- Accuracy: practise slow scales with a piano or tuner app, landing each note before moving on.
- Stability: hold an “ah” for five seconds on a comfortable note while keeping it still. Steady breath support matters most.
- Held notes: choose songs with longer notes rather than fast runs.
- Clarity: sing in a quiet room with a clear vowel, about an arm’s length from the microphone.

Accuracy and Privacy
The rating comes from pitch detection that runs about 30 times a second in your browser. Background music, other voices and echo can lower the score, so sing alone in a quiet room. Nothing is recorded or uploaded. The score card is created on your device.
